7.MUHAMMAD 'ALI PERIOD, 1220 - 1265 H. (1805- 1848 A.D.) : The mosques that were founded during the rule of Muhammad 'Ali al-Kabir, were affected by both Ottoman and Mamluk influences. He founded his great mosque at the Citadel, based on the Mosque of Sultan Ahmad at Constantinople, which overlooks Cairo with its domes and minarets, a symbol of majesty and power.
